New Residents Guide

Anyone opening a new account with the New Haven Water/Wastewater system will be required to pay a $100.00 deposit.

The deposit will be refunded at the end of two years provided that all bills have been paid on time each month.

The deposit will be refunded if the customer moves from the City’s Water/Wastewater service area as soon as we are notified.  We will apply the deposit to the account balance and send the remainder to the customer.  This process will take 1 to 2 weeks.

Deposits of customers who have existing City water accounts will be applied to the customer’s new account in the event that the customer relocates to another location within the City’s system.  The customer must close out the previous residence account within a week of moving or the water will be shut off at both locations until the account has a zero balance.

Customers who have received a refund of their deposit who move to another location within the City’s system will not be required to make a new deposit as long as the customer has been a resident in the past year.
