a Mayor & 4 Commissioners.
Mayor Tessie Cecil –
Tessie is a native of the Philippines. She was elected Mayor in 1990 and has served for
19 years. She works at Heaven Hill Distillery. She moved to New Haven in August 1975.
She served as the City Clerk/Treasurer for 9 years. She is married to Don Cecil. Feel free

Commissioner John Ray Ball –
John has been a resident of the City for 25 years. This is John's first term serving as
a City Commissioner. John is married to the former Suzanne Mattingly. They have
eight children and five grandchildren. John can be reached at 549-8937.
Commissioner Fred Dewitt –
Fred was born and raised in New Haven. He currently is the New Haven Fire Chief and
has been for 15 years. This is his 6th term for holding the Commissioner position.
He is married to the former Pam Reiter. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Commissioner Bob Johnson –
Bob Johnson is a life long resident of New Haven. He previously served as the City of
New Haven Police Chief for 17 years. He is married to the former Guyula Boone and has
four daughters, eleven grandchildren and one great-granchild. This will Bob's 2nd term

Commissioner Jerry Nevitt –
Jerry i a life long resident of New Haven. He is a retired Bardstown City Police Officer.

Linda has been serving as the City Clerk/Treasurer for 22 years. She is a 41 year

Joanie is the Utility Clerk and has been with the City for 9 years. She is a native of
New Haven, but currently resides in New Hope. She is married to Jason Corbin.

Tim is the Public Works Director and has been working for the City for 22 years. He is a
40 year resident of Southern Nelson County. He is married to the former Elaine Bell.
Keith Bartley –
Keith is the Water/Wastewater Superintendent for the City. He retired after 31 years
of service with the City of Bardstown and has been with the City of New Haven for
9 years. He is a life long resident of Southern Nelson County. He is married to the
former Pat Riggs.
Charles Leo Mattingly –
Charles is a life long resident of the City of New Haven. He retired from General Electric
in Louisville, KY after working for them for 35 years. After retiring he came to work for
the City and has been here for 18 years. Charles also served as the Fire Chief for the
New Haven Fire Dept. for 30 years. He was married to the late Norma Jean Spalding.
